Community Festivals and Gatherings

with a focus on the Puget Sound
and the drier areas around Cascadia on Turtle Island

Events are listed in the order they occur.

World Rhythm Festival (always in spring at the Seattle Center) - the largest free percussion festival in the world

Procession of the Species Celebration (always in April in Olymipa) - a joyous, spontaneous artistic pageant where community members celebrate their relationships with each other and with the natural world.

Seattle Peace Concerts (held all summer long!) - Seattle's largest and longest running free park concert series

The Trillium Farm Birch Creek Arts & Ecology Center Events - The same group runs Dakubetede Environmental Education Programs in southern Oregon

Northwest Folklife (Last weekend in May in Seattle) - The largest celebration of folk art and music I have ever seen.

Fremont Summer Solstice Parade sponsored by the Fremont Arts Council
(always starts at Noon on Saturday in June near the solstice)
- This Seattle Parade is an outpouring of individual inspiration and community creativity

Rainbow Family Gatherings (main Turtle Island gathering always in July) - A large extended spiritual family usually meeting outdoors in a natural environment

Oregon Country Fair (always in July) - If you haven't heard about it, check out their web site, its amazing!

Island Earthfair (always in August) - "celebrating our role as caretakers of the earth" on Vashon Island in the middle of Puget Sound

Northwest Herbal Faire (always in August) - "Honoring and thanks to our plant relatives. Building our herbal community. Visioning positive futures. Building bonds for future cooperation."

Dancing Dragons Festival in the Forest (in August) - "Supporting Community Development"

Trinity Tribal Stomp (always in September) - Northern California's premier musical extravaganza

Seattle Tilth Organic Harvest Fair (Always on Saturday 10am–4pm, usually just before the equinox) - Cooked food, fresh produce, music, and information booths celebrating the connections between us all and the earth
